The Swedish company IKEA, the world’s largest furniture and home goods’ retailer, plans to officially launch online sales in Ukraine in the coming days, the company said in an official comment to Interfax-Ukraine.

“IKEA reaffirms its commitment to Ukraine and plans to make the range of functional products with attractive designs and prices affordable to as many Ukrainians as possible. Now we are actively working on entering the Ukrainian market through the opening of an online store … Now we are doing everything possible to officially launch online sales in Ukraine in the next few days,” Florian Mellet, the head of IKEA in Ukraine, said.

According to him, a preview of the site is available on www.ikea.ua with current prices and assortment.

At the same time, he said that the information about IKEA’s entering the Ukrainian market, released by some Ukrainian media, is false.

“This information was disseminated through private channels on social networks, it in no way reflects the official position of the company,” the report said.

As reported, earlier on Facebook, information was released on behalf of IKEA business client coordinator Igor Ius that IKEA signed a lease agreement with Kyiv-based Blockbuster Mall trade center, however, due to the coronavirus epidemic, the store’s opening date is not yet known.

Earlier, IKEA reported that it is analyzing the next steps and possible dates for starting a business in Ukraine in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. In particular, the company previously announced its intention to launch e-commerce in the country in the spring of 2020.
