In Ukraine, 39,000 beds in 256 medical institutions have been allocated for the treatment of patients with COVID-19, 96% of them are provided with oxygen, according to the website of the Ministry of Health on Aug. 26.

The regions also reportedly purchased and received 14,790 oxygen concentrators, 161 computed tomographs and 148 X-ray machines. On August 22-23, Ukraine received oxygen concentrators, heart monitors, pulse oximeters, medical gloves, surgical masks and other means as humanitarian aid from Poland.

The Ministry of Health says that despite the increase in the number of cases of the “delta” strain in Ukraine (520 cases were registered as of August 20), the medical system is ready for a new wave of morbidity.

The laboratory network, in particular, is equipped with all consumables for detecting coronavirus, a stock of tests has been formed for more than 2 million PCR tests and 2.3 million express tests for identification of antigen. Reagents for 4 million PCR tests and 2.8 million express tests are expected to be shipped in September.

In addition, the ministry has updated the contact tracking system, continues to work on adapted routes that will allow, if necessary, to deliver patients to the nearest hospitals in neighboring regions by a short route.

It is also planned to start sequencing laboratory samples in the Center for Public Health’s own reference laboratory in the fourth quarter of 2021. They will be able to diagnose the delta strain by PCR at the regional level, the department reported.
