Ukraine’s Ministry of Information Policy has forwarded a new blacklist of websites to the SBU Security Service of Ukraine, the ministry has said in response to a request from Interfax-Ukraine.

According to the document, the list was compiled by an ad hoc monitoring group under the ministry in pursuance of the provisions of the Doctrine of the Information Policy of Ukraine, after which it was sent to the council of experts under the ministry, who subsequently approved it.

“Upon the recommendation of the expert council, the list of websites was forwarded to the Security Service of Ukraine on April 18, 2018,” the document said.

Then, the SBU should examine these websites and, if necessary, respond in accordance with the law.

As was earlier reported, 21 websites were put on the new list as they contain information prohibited under Ukrainian legislation.

In particular, the proposed list incorporates such websites as dan-news.info, admin-gorlovka.ru, dnr24.su, gorlovka.today, golospravdy.com, s-narodom.ru, politnavigator.net, riafan.ru, dnr-hotline.ru, genocid.net, miaistok.su, dnr24.com, republic-tv.ru, ruskline.ru, dnipress.com, kianews24.ru, c-eho.info, crimea.ria.ru, c-inform.info, komtv.org and gazetacrimea.ru.

These websites should be banned in Ukraine under Part 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code (public calls for the change or overthrow of the constitutional order, or for the seizure of state power, and dissemination of materials with calls for such actions), the ministry said.

The description of each website contains URLs to materials posted on the websites.

According to the ministry’s response, the ad hoc monitoring group under the Information Policy Ministry conducts monitoring on an ongoing basis.

As reported, the Ministry of Information Policy on June 19, 2017, announced a list of 20 websites with recommendations to ban them in Ukraine. That list contained, in particular, such sites as Russian Spring (rusvesna.su)”, Novorossia (novorossia.su), Antifascist (antifashist.com), Antimaydan (antimaydan.info), and others.
