One of the largest low-cost airlines of Europe on March 15 will announce its plans to start operating in Ukraine and could offer flights from Kyiv and Lviv, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan has said.

“We would hold a joint press conference on March 15 with one of the largest European low-cost airlines. The airline will announce its plans to enter the Ukrainian market. I hope that on March 15 it will be in Kyiv and Lviv,” he said on 112 TV Channel on March 7.

He said that the airline will inform about the destinations, its vision of the market and potential directions for cooperation.

“This is good news. This is what we were moving toward for several years,” he said.

Omelyan said that last year the aviation sector showed good results.

Passenger flow in Ukraine grew by 30 percent. Five regional airports resumed operations.

According to market players, it is likely that the largest low-cost airline is Ryanair, which in February said that the airline could announce plans for flight to Ukraine soon.
