Before the end of the events in the framework of the UEFA Champions League final matches in Kyiv, Ukraine’s Interior Ministry units will be on high alert, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Serhiy Yarovy has said.
“The number of tickets sold for the final match on May 26 is 63,000. To ensure public order, about 12,000 law enforcers are being transferred to emergency work mode. They include 6,000 police officers, nearly 4,000 national guardsmen, a thousand border guards and other units,” Yarovy said a press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on Monday.nnHe also drew attention to the fact that a large amount of work would go to border and transit areas, in particular to checkpoints.
“There are 26 air checkpoints, 51 highways, 53 railway routes involved. Some 1,000 border guards and 100 service dogs will be employed at the checkpoints. About 11,000 fans will arrive at Boryspil International Airport. Approximately 15,000 people are expected to arrive by car,” he said.
National Police of Ukraine Chief Serhiy Kniazev appealed to regional police departments: “From today until the end of the events, we have an increased level of terrorist threat. Bomb disposal units throughout Ukraine should be contacted if any suspicious items are found.
