The Office of the Investigative Committee in Minsk has initiated a criminal case against the girlfriend of the head of the Belarusian House in Ukraine Vitaliy Shyshov, who was killed in Kyiv for “calling for mass riots.”

“The Investigative Committee of Belarus in Minsk initiated a criminal case against a 21-year-old native of the Gomel region Bozhena Zholud, who has been permanently residing in Ukraine since August 2020. According to the investigation, in August 2021, the suspect, being near the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Ukraine, called for mass riots accompanied by violence against the person and armed resistance to representatives of the authorities, that is, to the commission of actions aimed at causing harm to the national security of the Republic of Belarus,” the Investigative Committee of Belarus press service said.

According to the statement, Zholud’s actions were filmed and distributed in the media and social networks.

She is charged with Part 3 of Article 361 (calls for actions aimed at causing harm to the national security of the Republic of Belarus) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of two to five years.

“It is planned to conduct other investigative and procedural actions,” the Investigative Committee of Belarus said.
