There is not enough gender equality in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Rada First Deputy Speaker Iryna Herashchenko said.

“A total of 22,771 are now serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. A total of 3,916 of them are officers. We have 43 female colonels and not a single female general,” she said at the first Ukrainian Women’s Forum in Kyiv on Nov. 22.

Herashchenko also said Ukrainian politics is still not free from stereotypes.

“They exist in the way women are perceived in politics. There is not a single woman in politics that has not heard behind her back sexist statements about age, gender, appearance, and weight […] We have three people in the parliament who don’t have a higher education, and they are all men,” she said.
