You're reading: Japan hands modern medical equipment over to Kyiv’s military hospital

The government of Japan has handed medical equipment over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the tune of almost $1.5 million since the beginning of Russian aggression.

The Japanese side, with the assistance of the UN, donated an artificial ventilation unit, anaesthesia respiratory equipment and emergency medical kits to Kyiv-based Main Military Clinical Hospital, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s press service said on Wednesday.

“I am grateful to the government and the people of Japan for providing important and relevant assistance. Since the beginning of Russian aggression against our country, the Japanese side has transferred nearly $1.5 million worth of medical equipment to the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” said Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak has said.

In his words, the medical equipment will allow doctors to carry out the necessary urgent diagnostics and in time to treat the wounded and ill Ukrainian military personnel and the civilian population, who turn to military doctors for help.

In turn, Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Takashi Kurai, expressed condolences to the families of the dead Ukrainian soldiers and words of respect to all Ukrainians who are fighting for independence, the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the medical staff who save the lives of Ukrainians.
