You're reading: Japan to provide Ukraine with $4.23 milion for settlement of Donbas issues

Japan will provide Ukraine with financial aid in the amount of $4.23 million for the settlement of various issues in Donbas, the Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine has said.

“Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov has met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Takashi Kurai. During the meeting, they discussed the overall situation in the occupied territories of Ukraine (Crimea and Donbas), as well as Japan’s further engagement in the implementation of a range of projects in eastern Ukraine,” the ministry said.

The minister and the ambassador also discussed a possibility of assistance in the spheres of public health and housing rehabilitation.

They also talked about the launch of new projects in eastern Ukraine, which have been approved by the Japanese government.

“The situation in Donbas amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak was an important issue on the agenda of the meeting, in particular its possible negative political and socio-economic consequences. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Takashi Kurai said that Japan will provide financial aid in the amount of $4.23 million for the settlement of problems in eastern Ukraine,” the ministry said.
