The fire unit of the anti-aircraft defense of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) in Donbas has destroyed the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) manufactured in Russia, which conducted reconnaissance in the sector of Pervomaysk-Severodonetsk-Svatove.

“On August 16, the forces and means of air defense of the JFO recorded an unmanned aerial vehicle of the Russian occupation forces, which conducted reconnaissance of our positions in the area of Pervomaysk-Severodonetsk-Svatove. On-duty air defense facilities were immediately put into full combat readiness. After the work of drones was confirmed with radar stations, the target was destroyed by the fire unit of the JFO air defense,” the press center of the JFO said on Facebook on August 17.

During the UAV survey it was established that the device is equipped with a camera with 12 lenses for panoramic aerial and video shooting with the possibility of transferring the collected information to the control point in real time.

“Separate components of the UAV, in particular an optoelectronic system costing about $100,000, produced by a Russian company (which is under U.S. sanctions and works jointly with the manufacturer of the UAV called Orlan) proves that the Russian Federation is involved in the supply of weapons to Donbas in the interests of the occupation forces against the Ukrainian army. The estimated cost of only one camera is more than $100,000,” it informs.

The press center of the JFO emphasizes that the Russian Federation thus continues “searching for new forms and methods of applying the latest weapons and military equipment in real combat conditions on the territory of Ukraine.”
