Ukrainian National Guard servicemen in the Svitlodarsk sector of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) have shot down a Russian Eleron (Aileron) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

“On March 1, 2019, servicemen of the battalion tactical group of the National Guard’s Azov special purpose regiment noticed an unmanned aerial vehicle at a platoon dugout of a separate mechanized brigade defending part of the Svitlodarsk sector. Guardsmen let it pass by the first position before shooting it down with regular small arms,” the JFO’s press center said on Facebook on Friday.

The UAV was shot down at 07:43 a.m. Kyiv time Friday at an altitude of 150 meters.

“The servicemen found the downed drone and handed it over to experts of special units. As it turned out, the UAV, shot down by the guardsmen, turned out to be a Russian Eleron UAV,” the report said.

Experts are studying downed UAV’s data storage media.
