Secretary of the Kharkiv City Council Oleksandr Novak, in the framework of the visit of the official delegation of the city of Kharkiv to Germany, has met with mayor of the sister city of Nuremberg, Ulrich Maly.

“The parties signed a memorandum on individual events in terms of cooperation between the twin cities and approved the main areas of work for 2019 to exchange best practices in the fields of economics, education, culture, sports and tourism,” the press service of the Kharkiv City Council reported on November 6.

The memorandum, in particular, provides for joint filing of an application for the NAKOPA project with the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (introduction of energy efficient technologies in Kharkiv), holding Days of Kharkiv Culture in Nuremberg (theater performances, art exhibitions, performances of Kharkiv musical groups), rendering of charitable assistance to medical and social institutions of Kharkiv by the German side.

Representatives of the Nuremberg municipality are also scheduled to attend the International Tourism Forum in Kharkiv. Entrepreneurs and representatives of the Nuremberg municipality will take part in the Nuremberg Days in the city of Kharkiv and the German-Ukrainian Economic Forum. It is assumed that the musical group from Nuremberg will participate in the concert of the twin cities of Kharkiv on the occasion of the Day of the City and the Independence Day of Ukraine, and the Kharkiv residents – in the traditional Christmas fair of the twin cities of Nuremberg.

In late November – early December 2019, it is planned to sign a new memorandum of cooperation between Kharkiv and Nuremberg for 2020.

Kharkiv and Nuremberg have been cooperating for more than 25 years. The agreement on twin town relations was signed on April 29, 1990, and the renewed agreement was signed on July 7, 1999.
