You're reading: Kharkiv region police receive 116 complaints about election law violations

Over the past day, the police registered five reports of violations of the law of Ukraine “On the election of the President of Ukraine” in Kharkiv region, and opened one criminal case.

“Investigators of the Shevchenko police department opened criminal proceedings upon the application of a student at a Kharkiv university that he found an advertisement for work on election day in the dormitory room. The announcement referred to one of the instant messengers where an offer of improper benefit for some actions related to the implementation of electoral rights was proposed. The information was entered under Part 2 of Article 160 (bribing a voter, referendum participant) of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, the Kharkiv region’s communications department said.

Since the beginning of the election campaign, the police have received 116 reports of elections law violations in Kharkiv region. Some 11 criminal proceedings have been opened, two administrative protocols have been drawn up. Some 80 complaints have not been verified, while other complaints are still being checked.
