You're reading: Kremlin demands Ukraine release Vyshynsky, doesn’t see this as ‘subject for exchanges’

Journalist Kirill Vyshynsky should be released immediately, given that he was arrested in Ukraine for journalistic activity in violation of all international rules; this is not “a subject for exchanges,” presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on November 2.

“We believe that Vyshinsky should be released immediately. This is not a subject for exchanges of some kind. This is an outright violation of all international rules and the principle of a free press. Essentially, he has been arrested for conducting journalistic activity,” Peskov said when asked by a Ukrainian journalist why Vyshynsky cannot be exchanged for Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko.
