Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has stressed the need to unite efforts in the fight against Russian disinformation.

“The propaganda campaign of the Russian media in many respects is similar to the campaign after the MH17 tragedy. During this time they became more skilled at telling lies, so we need to unite efforts in the fight against Russian disinformation,” he wrote on his Twitter page on March 15.

“This is part of the hybrid war that Moscow is waging against a community of values,” he said.

Klimkin also noted that “a lie should not distract the world from the truth.”

Later, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry issued a statement by Klimkin, regarding a growing wave of Russian objections and counter accusations regarding the attempted murder of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal.

“It is now clear that Russia is deploying a massive disinformation campaign, similar to [the one] after MH17, using their 4D strategy of Dismissing, Distorting, Distracting and Dismaying. We know Russia lies on an industrial scale, but lies must not be allowed to distract the world from the truth,” the minister said.
