MUNICH – Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin believes that the number of UN peacekeepers in Donbas and the composition of the peacekeeping forces are “technical issues,” while the fundamental issue is political.

“We need to find a political solution to make Russia get out of Donbas and transfer the territories under the control of the international community,” said Klimkin, referring to the report on the settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine prepared by the United Nations expert at Columbia University Richard Gowan and the Hudson Institute, which is expected to be presented at the Munich Security Conference.

“The police component is also very important. The question at issue is who will ensure security and disarm illegal groups,” the Ukrainian foreign minister said.
