Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin believes it is important that the European Union should synchronize with the U.S. its sanctions against the persons on the ‘Kremlin’s list’.
“Today I want to thank the U.S. administration, the Congress and all those involved in the expansion of the U.S. sanctions against the persons on the Kremlin’s list and I very much hope that this is indeed the beginning of a victory over the country that violates all possible rules and principles of the civilized world,” Klimkin wrote on his Facebook page.
“Now it is very important that the European Union does not stand aside and synchronize sanctions against the Russian Federation and the United States,” he added.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister stressed that the response to the case of poisoning former Russian intelligence officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter in Salisbury demonstrated “what solidarity should be”. “It’s the only way it works. It is the only way for us to win,” Klimkin said.
Earlier on April 6, the U.S. State Treasury announced that after consultations with the State Department, the U.S. administration imposed sanctions against seven Russian businessmen, 12 companies, 17 government employees of the Russian Federation, as well as against one Russian arms trading company and its associated bank.
