Ukraine will continue to seek access to its citizens illegally detained in Russia, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has stated.

“It was clear to everyone from the very beginning that Russia would “play” with access. They make it out to be whatever you can think of. For example, that Oleh [Ukrainian filmmaker Oleh Sentsov] or Sasha Kolchenko has Russian citizenship. They even tried to say to Sasha Kolchenko “to make refusal of Russian citizenship” … You understood perfectly well what will happen after that. These tricks won’t work,” he told journalists in Truskavets (Lviv region) on Saturday.

At the same time, Klimkin expressed conviction that the Ukrainian side will achieve admission to its citizens.

“I think we will get this access, unfortunately, not right away,” he said.

The Ukrainian foreign minister noted that the Russian side began to talk about a certain plan, the “roadmap.”

“I believe only in clear political decisions. In Russia these political decisions are made by one person. But we must still be sure in what physical and psychological condition our guys are,” he concluded.
