Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has announced the holding of a summit in the Ukraine-Georgia-NATO format.

“Now, as of today, we are planning a meeting in the Ukraine-Georgia-NATO format. Why is it decided so? Not because we cannot choose another format. Since the NATO summit … is already so ‘packed, it is realistic to hold it in a full-scale format with our Georgian friends and partners,” he told journalists in Truskavets (Lviv region) on Saturday.

Klimkin noted the joint aspirations of Ukraine and Georgia.

“We have joint aspirations to become a member of NATO. We are implementing reforms … Therefore we can talk about a joint path and a common goal. And there is an additional aspect of security around the Black Sea, especially after Russia’s occupying Crimea,” he explained.

The Ukrainian foreign minister also noted the positive dynamics of a dialogue with Hungary.

“Ukraine will take part in the NATO summit, which is important both in terms of the alliance’s solidarity with us and in terms of developing practical cooperation, but there is much that needs to be done in the near future,” he said.

As reported, Hungary blocked the holding of the Ukraine-NATO commission because of the law on education.
