Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has met with OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger to discuss the implementation of the Minsk peace agreements on Donbas and the political and diplomatic settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict in the framework of the general debate of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.

The two discussed prospects for the deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service said on Tuesday.

Klimkin stressed that such a mission should be deployed in entire occupied territory in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, including along the temporarily uncontrolled section of the Ukrainian-Russian border.

“Constant monitoring of the Russian-Ukrainian border is an indispensable element of the full implementation of the Minsk agreements,” Klimkin said.

The parties also declared the importance of ensuring security of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine and civilians in the occupied areas in Donbas, the ministry said.
