Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin is convinced that Russia does not seek to bring pro-Russian political forces to power as a result of elections in Ukraine. He said Russia’s goal is the fragmentation of the Ukrainian state.

“One can speculate on who Russia would like to bring to power as a result of elections. I fundamentally do not believe that Russia believes in creating of a more pro-Russian reality here. I am 100% sure that Russia’s goal is fragmentation of Ukraine and weakening the country,” the head of the Foreign Ministry said, speaking at the National Expert Forum in Odesa on Thursday.

According to him, only such an option in the future will give Russia a chance to control the situation in Ukraine.
