More than 240 children have been killed in eastern Ukraine in four years, and 15,000 children living at a five-kilometer distance from the contact line continue to be exposed to daily risks, Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin said on Children’s Day marked on June 1.

In this connection, he addressed to the international community with an appeal to force the Russian Federation to peace: “I call on the world community to urge Russia to stop war that took more than 240 children’s lives in Ukraine.”

“About 200,000 children live along the contact line in Donbas, 15,000 live in the 5-km zone of the contact line. Each of them is at risk every day and deserves to feel safe,” he tweeted on June 1.
