Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has expressed condolences on the perishing of Pawel Adamowicz, mayor of the Polish city of Gdansk, who was stabbed during a charity concert on Jan. 13.

“It’s a shock for all of us, for all those who are in politics and outside of it. My sincerest condolences,” the Ukrainian Foreign Minister wrote in a tweet on Twitter on Jan. 14.

He said he had met with Adamowicz once. “Unfortunately, I will not be able to shake hands with him once again. He was a real man and a good person. The Polish society will still have to digest this tragedy,” Klimkin said.

As earlier reported, Adamowicz was stabbed in the chest during a charity concert in the evening of Jan. 13. He was taken to the hospital in a very grave condition. The attacker was arrested.

Adamowicz died on Jan. 14 afternoon.
