Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has stressed the need for the proper arrangement and modernization of the Luzhanka checkpoint on the border with Hungary.

According to the press service of the ministry, Klimkin during his working trip to Zakarpattia region held meetings with the leaders of the region and Berehove district, visited the Hungarian and Ukrainian gymnasiums in Berehove, met with teachers and representatives of public organizations of the region and visited the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.

“Unfortunately, it is obvious that there are difficulties with understanding and perception of the Ukrainian language by the pupils of schools with education in the language of national minorities. This problem must be solved in a complex way, in cooperation between the central authorities and local communities so that all school leavers in Ukraine have absolutely equal rights,” Klimkin noted during the visit.

During his visit to the Luzhanka checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, Klimkin stressed the need for the proper arrangement of the checkpoint and the Ukrainian section of the border, which “requires substantial modernization.”

During the meetings, the importance of joint efforts for the development of the region’s infrastructure and realization of tourist potential was repeatedly noted.
