Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said Ukraine may receive a tomos about the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in a tangible future.

“And in the end this tomos will be handed over to the new church in the foreseeable future. I’m also working on it […]To be honest, I believe that we have a real chance right now,” the minister said in an interview with Channel 5 TV on June 18.

The minister said the process of forming a unified church in Ukraine will be independent.

“For us, this tomos, of course, there is politics, is a way to further independence, but this is very important for all believers who are told in the Russian church that you are wrong, you are going to the wrong church. It is important that they will not feel this propaganda,” Klimkin said.
