Two Ukrainian crew members of the ARK TZE and ANUKET AMBER vessels are returning home from pirate captivity, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin announced on Twitter Saturday morning, Jan. 5.

The foreign minister indicated that the two men were the last of the twelve sailors who had been held by pirates in the waters off the coast of West Africa since November.

“We start 2019 with good news: two crew members from ARK TZE and ANUKET AMBER vessels are returning home from pirate captivity,” tweeted Klimkin.

In November 2018, pirates seized ARK TZE and ANUKET AMBER – two vessels in the waters of West Africa.

As a result, eight members of the crew ANUKET AMBER and four of the ARK TZE found themselves in pirate captivity.

On Dec. 19, another Ukrainian sailor of the Pomerenia Sky container, which also was captured by Nigerian pirates, was released from captivity, according to Ukrinform state news agency.

Back in October, Valeriy Zubytsky, another Ukrainian sailor who was captured by pirates in Nigeria’s territorial waters, also returned home to Odesa after being captured with part of the crew of Swiss merchant ship MV Glarus.
