Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin has discussed with the Secretary for Relations with States of the Vatican Paul Richard Gallagher cooperation in the release of Ukrainian citizens illegally held by Russia.
“The Vatican side was thanked for solidarity with Ukraine personally by Pope Francis and specific assistance of the Vatican in overcoming the humanitarian consequences of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against our state,” the press service of the Foreign Ministry said on December 7.
The department also noted that the parties discussed further cooperation around consolidated efforts to release citizens of Ukraine illegally held by Russia.
Klimkin confirmed the interest of the Ukrainian side in further activating the dialogue with the Vatican at all levels.
