No new capital facilities will be built on the Trukhaniv Island in Kyiv, the island will remain a recreational zone, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said.

“Many people ask what will happen to the island. I want to put an end to it: it will not be built up and will remain a recreational zone. And we will make it comfortable for everyone who rests there,” the mayor said on the Kyiv TV Channel.

Klitschko noted that, given the size of the island, it will not be possible to quickly change the situation on its entire territory.

“But we will gradually equip it, we plan to make two bicycle hubs – one near the Moscow Bridge, another – near the Pedestrian Bridge,” he said.

The mayor also mentioned the plan to develop sport and infrastructure facilities on the island. In particular, a skate park, training grounds, a field for mini-football.
