You're reading: Kolomoisky will support ‘any worthy candidate’ in Ukraine’s next election

Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoisky has said that he intends to support any worthy candidate in the upcoming presidential election in Ukraine, except for the incumbent head of state Petro Poroshenko, but he has no agreements with anyone yet.

In a telephone interview with the Schemes program, a joint project of Radio Liberty and the UA: First TV Channel, Kolomoisky, when asked who he will support in the presidential election, said: “Any worthy candidate, except for Poroshenko.”

At the same time, the businessman noted that at the moment he has no agreements with any of the potential candidates.

“I have not seen any candidates yet. Well, except for the well-known one… [Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia] Tymoshenko. I think that this is the favorite of the presidential race today,” Kolomoisky said.

At the same time, he said that he also did not hold any talks with Tymoshenko for support in the elections.

When asked about their possible meeting, which allegedly took place in Tel Aviv, Kolomoisky replied: “It’s a pity that you did not call me before, I would have sent a photograph taken near Lake Geneva on a fountain in real time, and you would realize how funny it was.”

The next parliamentary and presidential elections in Ukraine are scheduled for 2019.
