MOSCOW – The Kremlin has confirmed that aides of the Normandy format chiefs of state will meet in Berlin on Sept. 2, and that Vladislav Surkov will be representing Russia, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov has said.

“The information has been officially confirmed. The next round of consultations involving the diplomatic advisors, as they are known, will take place in Berlin on Sept. 2. Surkov will be representing us there,” Ushakov told the press in response to a relevant question from Interfax.

The meeting participants “will discuss issues relating to settling the internal Ukrainian crisis, including the possibility of making preparations for a summit in the Normandy format,” Ushakov said.

When asked whether this meeting will take place regardless of the outcome of the talks between Moscow and Kyiv on the exchange of held persons, he answered in the affirmative.
