MOSCOW – A telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel was held at the initiative of the German side, the Kremlin press service said on Sept. 29 evening.

“The discussion on the Ukrainian problems continued in line of the intensification of the work for comprehensive implementation of the Minsk Agreements of February 12, 2015,” the statement said.

“The expediency to synchronize the efforts in the area of security and regarding political aspects of settlement was underlined,” the press service said.

“In this context a positive judgment was given to the agreement signed by the Contact Group in Minsk regarding the separation of the forces and means on the contact line in three pilot points, as well as the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission’s role in ensuring the observance of the ceasefire regime,” it said.
