Expectations about the upcoming Normandy Four summit to take place in Paris should not be set overly high, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
“Let’s not have overly high expectations about the meeting in the Normandy format. At the same time, there is every reason to hope that the conversation will be substantive,” Peskov told journalists, answering a question on whether the agreements on the prolongation of the law on Donbas’ special status are being prepared for the summit.
This law and its possible prolongation are an important issue, he said.
“The law on the special status is an integral part of the Minsk Agreements. The decision to drift toward a single document is fraught with major complications, whose consequences for the settlement process can hardly be predicted by anyone now,” Peskov said.
It was reported on November 15 that the Normandy Four summit with participation of the leaders of France, Germany, Russia, and Ukraine is scheduled to take place in Paris on December 9.
