You're reading: Kuleba, Turkish FM discuss security situation in Black Sea

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.

“The ministers separately discussed the possibilities of enhanced cooperation between the naval forces of Ukraine and Turkey, which will help to implement NATO standards in the Ukrainian Navy, increase their defense capability and compatibility with NATO member countries, and, in general, interaction of states for the sake of security in the Black Sea,” the MFA press rservice said.

Foreign ministers also discussed preparations for the tenth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council chaired by Presidents of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as well as a joint meeting of the Foreign and Defense Ministers of the two countries in the Quadriga format.

Kuleba expressed gratitude for Turkey’s strong support for Ukraine’s NATO membership, which the Turkish side expressed during the preparation for and during the NATO summit.

Çavuşoğlu said that Turkey will continue to support Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration by all means, and accepted Kuleba’s invitation to pay a visit to Ukraine this autumn to discuss the entire range of Ukrainian-Turkish strategic relations.
