You're reading: Kuleba: Ukrainian plane evacuates citizens of 5 countries from Kabul

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has reported the evacuation of a number of people from Afghanistan taken over by the Taliban.

“Ukrainian aircraft stationed in Afghanistan took citizens of Ukraine, the Netherlands, Croatia, Belarus, Afghanistan out of Kabul. They’re safe now,” Kuleba said on social media in the early hours of August 16.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported the evacuation of 30 Ukrainians earlier. He said later that eight Ukrainians were actually evacuated from Afghanistan.

“According to the updated information, a Ukrainian plane has evacuated nearly 80 people from Afghanistan, among them eight Ukrainians and citizens of other countries that requested urgent evacuation. Most importantly, everyone is safe,” Zelensky said on social media early on August 16 morning.

The Taliban movement has been recognized as a terrorist and banned in Russia consistent with Russian laws.
