Passengers arriving at Sikorsky Kyiv International Airport directly from Italy have begun undergoing mandatory temperature checks, the airport’s press service said.

“Due to the outbreak of the Covid-2019 infection caused by the coronavirus in certain parts of Italy, arrivals from Italy to the Kyiv airport are being checked by an on-duty epidemiologist in order to detect those who are ill or suspected cases among the passengers,” the press service said on Facebook.

It also posted images of passengers having their body temperatures measured by a pyrometer, a contactless thermometer.

It was reported earlier, citing Ukraine’s Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk, that Ukrainian airports will be screening passengers on direct flights from countries affected by coronavirus. On Feb. 25, a spokesperson for Boryspil Airport told Interfax-Ukraine that as of 2 p.m., on Feb. 25, a sanitary control official from the Health Ministry was only carrying out mandatory checks on arrivals from Italy.
