The Kyiv international airport (Zhuliany) serviced 689,377 passengers in January-June, which was 67.6 percent more than a year ago.

The airport’s press service reported that the number of passengers serviced on international flights grew by 64.3 percent, to 653,640 and on domestic flights – 2.7-fold, to 35,737.

The number of flights in January-June totaled 9,719 (arrivals and departures), which is 30.8 percent more than a year ago, including 7,844 international flights and 1,875 domestic flights.

“The increase in passenger traffic is thanks to the arrival of new airlines, the opening of new destinations and the increase in the frequency of flights. The visa-free regime with the EU also positively influenced the general indicators, but we will be able to speak about them at the end of the year. After having analyzed the figures for the European destinations from the Kyiv airport (Hungary, Italy, Poland, Spain, Germany and Slovakia) during one month of the visa-free regime, one can see an increase in passenger traffic by an average of 21 percent,” the airport experts said.

According to the report, WizzAir airline from July 1 began to service regular flights to Warsaw (Poland).
