Kyiv City Council has allocated Hr 25 million for the organization of the final matches of the men’s and women’s UEFA Champions League in May 2018.

The respective decision was made at a council meeting on Feb.22 through the introduction of amendments to the city’s comprehensive target program “Youth and Sports of the Capital” for 2016-2018.

“Hr 25 million is a commitment that the city assumed last year. We envisaged the respective amount in Kyiv’s budget for 2018. These funds should be spent only on issues related to infrastructure, security, and beautification. UEFA assumes other expenses,” the head of the standing commission at Kyiv City Council on budget issues, Andriy Strannikov, said.

The Kyiv authorities expect 120,000 guests from Ukraine and from abroad. The city authorities note that an increase in the number of tourists will raise the tourist fee, which replenishes the city budget. In 2017, Kyiv received Hr 25 million from this fee, which was a quarter more than in 2016.
