First Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Gerashchenko, who represents Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group for Donbas, demanded at a subgroup meeting in Minsk on April 18 that OSCE SMM Coordinator Toni Frisch and a Russian representative unblock the search for missing persons in the occupied territory.

“At a meeting of the humanitarian group in Minsk… I appealed to OSCE Coordinator Frisch and a representative of the Russian Federation with the demand to use all efforts and their unconditional influence in order to unblock the search for missing persons in the occupied territories and to help the Ukrainian side obtain information about our warriors who have stayed in prisons in occupied Donbas for several years already, and about whom there is no information,” she wrote on her Facebook page after the meeting of the humanitarian subgroup on April 18.

In addition, according to Gerashchenko, the Ukrainian side insists on the immediate access for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to prisons in the occupied territories.

“Today I repeatedly raised this issue. The ICRC should help search for those missing, seek information about those illegally held, and monitor the situation in prisons,” she said.
