You're reading: Kyiv metro asks Musk for Tesla in world’s deepest metro station

Days after Elon Musk successfully launched his Tesla Roadster on top of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket, Kyiv’s subway officials have proposed that the Canadian-American business magnate put another of his electric cars in the world’s deepest metro station, Arsenalna, to balance between the highest and lowest locations.

“Dear Elon! You’ve got the highest Tesla in the world. It’s unbelievable! We offer (you) to put the deepest one on our station Arsenalna, which is the deepest metro station in the world,” the metro’s press service tweeted on Feb. 9.

Opened in 1960, Arsenalna metro station is 105.5 meters deep. It was built this way because of its location inside of one of Kyiv’s hills.

Though Musk hasn’t replied to the offer so far, many Ukrainians mocked the idea, pointing at the outdated metro equipment.

One Twitter user suggested the metro install 3G mobile Internet connection at metro stations instead, while another one claimed that Musk would likely be asked to also pay a $10,000 bribe, referring to Ukraine’s rampant corruption.

One more Twitter user went aggressive, saying: “You fuck*ng losers. Just build a fuck*ng subway line to Troya!”

Troya is a shortened name for Troyeshchina, one of the largest and also distant Kyiv neighborhoods on the left bank of the Dnipro River with the population of almost 350,000 inhabitants.

Residents of Troyeshchina have been expecting to get a subway line to them for nearly 20 years.
