Kyiv police have opened a criminal case over disruptive behavior involving a smoke bomb in the Ukrainian parliament.

“The Pechersky District Police Department has opened an inquiry under Criminal Code Article 296 (hooliganism),” a Kyiv police spokesperson told Interfax-Ukraine.

A team of police investigators have travelled to the scene and seized the remains of the smoke bomb. Inquiries are underway.

It was reported that the debate and voting on bills concerning Donbas on Oct.6 morning took place amid occasional scuffles and squabbles between parliamentarians from various factions and independents.

Furthermore, after voting for a presidential bill securing Ukraine’s sovereignty over Donbas, during a debate on a bill to extend the law on special status for the breakaway parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the independent parliamentarian Yuriy Levchenko set off a smoke bomb.
