You're reading: Kyiv reports 3 Ukrainian soldiers wounded in Donbas in past 24 hours

Russia-led forces have mounted 19 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas in the past 24 hours, with three Ukrainian soldiers reported as wounded in action, the press center of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) has reported.

“Russian-backed separatists opened fire on the positions of our troops 19 times. At the same time, the enemy used weapons forbidden by the Minsk agreements three times … three soldiers of the JFO were injured,” the JFO headquarters said on Facebook on October 22 morning.

Russia-led forces opened aimed fire from 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms.

The separatists opened fire at Ukrainian defenders of Schastia, Krymske, Popasna, Shumy, Pisky, Maryinka, Taramchuk, Krasnohorivka, Pavlopil, Vodiane, Hnutove, Lebedynske, and Shyrokyne.

“A fortified position of our troops near Vodyane in the Mariupol sector came under fire from 120mm mortars, grenade launchers and small arms, while the positions near Krymske and Shyrokyne were attacked with the use of 82mm mortars. Moreover, the Ukrainian soldiers of Schastia came under sniper fire,” the staff said.

Eight separatists were killed and another two were wounded, Ukrainian intelligence said.

“Since October 22 midnight, Russian-led forces have attacked the Ukrainian positions near the village of Novotroyitske, using grenade launchers of various systems, heavy machine guns and small arms,” it says.
