Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine for European Integration Olena Zerkal has said that the Nord Stream 2 project is a threat not only to security of Ukraine, but also Europe.

“The discussion of the Nord Stream 2 topic was started four years ago. Now this is the issue of not only security of Ukraine, this has become the issue of European security. It could be considered a threat to the entire Europe as a project,” she said at the 15th YES Conference organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in Kyiv on Sept. 15.

Zerkal said that Ukraine backs the idea of spreading the EU third energy package to the Nord Stream 2.

“I think that the issue could be settled without any sanctions. This is the issue of unity,” she said.
