You're reading: Kyiv says separatists concentrate fire in Donetsk direction, use heavy weapons

Russia-backed separatists are using heavy weapons, including 120-mm mortars, in the Donetsk sector on March 21, thus continuing to flagrantly violate the Minsk accords, the Ukrainian military headquarters said.

“At the moment, more than 80 percent of enemy shellings fall on the Donetsk sector,” reads a statement posted on the Facebook page of the Ukrainian military headquarters’ press center at around 15:40 on March 21.

According to the latest data, the situation in the Avdiyivka area remains tense. Separatists are using 120-mm and 82-mm mortars, and shelling the Ukrainian army positions from a tank.

“In the vicinity of Luhanske, the enemy fired using 120-mm mortars and large-caliber machine guns. In addition, enemy snipers were spotted in this direction, while the enemy fired at our positions using 82-mm mortars and a tank,” the statement reads.
