Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have rebutted illegal armed groups during an attempted attack on the Ukrainian army positions in the area of Svitlodarsk town of Bakhmut district in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian Defense Ministry said.
According to the Defense Ministry, on Dec. 20, at 10.30 a.m. pro-Russia separatists, after the methodical mortar attack by three assault groups numbering 3-5 people each, have made an attempt to shell out the Ukrainian units from its affected positions in the Svitlodarsk direction.
“The enemy was forced to retreat after an adequate response of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units,” the statement says posted on the official website of the Defense Ministry.
According to Defense Ministry data, there are no losses among the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Enemy losses are being tabulated.
