The World’s largest transport aircraft An-225 Mriya (Dream), designed and built at the State Enterprise Antonov, which is part of Ukroboronprom, will take part in a military parade dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.

“Mriya will fly over Khreshchatyk and seal the air column of military helicopters, fighter jets, attack aircraft, bombers and military transport aircraft, namely Mi-8, Mi-14, Mi-24, Su-27, MiG-29, IL-76 and An-70, An-26, An-72, An-32P,” the press service of Ukroboronprom said.

It is noted that the aircraft was created to transport the Buran reusable spacecraft and parts of the Energia super-heavy lift launch vehicle. It has also been assumed that An-225 would be used as a reusable aerospace transport system (MAKS), where the aircraft is the first stage and a small space shuttle with a fuel tank is the second stage.

“On March 22, 1989, Mriya carrying a cargo of 156.3 tonnes got off the ground and set 110 world records for speed, altitude, and load capacity within 110 hours and 45 minutes in flight. On September 11, 2001, Mriya set 124 worlds and 214 national records,” the message reads.

On August 18, the An-225 aircraft took part in the first rehearsal of the military parade in Kyiv on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.
