MOSCOW – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the European Union High representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini spoke by telephone on Friday to discuss the situation in Libya, Syrian crisis settlement, the escalation in Ukraine and the situation in the Balkans.

“It was agreed to hold meeting on the sidelines of one of upcoming multilateral events for a more substantive consideration of the possibilities of cooperation on international and regional problems and in general on the state of affairs in the EU-Russia relations,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.

The conversation took place “at the EU initiative.”
