Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has warned against sensation-seeking on the issue of prisoner exchange with Ukraine, but work patiently towards a result.

“For progress on this topic, it is necessary to negotiate not just in general, but to agree specific legal, technical and organizational aspects,” Lavrov told a press conference after talks with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas in Moscow on Wednesday.

“And of course, one should bear in mind that this is about people’s fates, and what is needed here is not chasing sensationalism, in order to be first to report something, but the painstaking work towards a result,” Lavrov said, when asked if the reports that the two countries could exchange prisoners, including the Ukrainian sailors, before the end of this month.

The two countries’ presidents spoke by telephone twice and discussed this issue among others, Lavrov recalled.
