You're reading: Law enforcement officers find arsenal of ammunition stolen in Crimea

Law enforcement officers have found a cache of weapons and ammunition in the Donetsk region that were in Crimea at the time of the occupation of the peninsula, the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine (PGO) said on October 1.

“Kyiv-based prosecutor’s office for the autonomy carries out procedural guidance in criminal proceedings on the facts of the theft of firearms and ammunition that were in Crimea at the time of the occupation of the territory of the peninsula (Part 1 of Article 262, Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). As part of the criminal proceedings, law enforcement officers received operational information that such weapons may be located on the territory of the Donetsk region. During its inspection, a cache of weapons and ammunition was found on the territory of a garage cooperative in the town of Avdiyivka,” the message says.

Law enforcers seized 60 F-1 grenades, 36 RGD grenades, more than 100 mines, 10 hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers. In addition, an anti-tank-guided missile installation and almost 14,000 rounds of various calibers were found in the cache.

Now the origin of weapons and ammunition is being established, as well as the persons involved in their illegal storage. All means of destruction were seized and sent for forensic examination.
