You're reading: Law enforcers raid Kyivavtodor, Kyivzelenbud in embezzlement case, five persons detained

Law enforcers on Nov. 21 raided municipal corporation Kyivavtodor, municipal association Kyivzelenbud and some other enterprises investigating into an embezzlement case.

The press service of Kyiv City Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) jointly with the main investigative department of the National Police, the economy protection department of the National Police and the department for preventing corruption of Kyiv City Administration raided Kyivavtodor, road production departments of Sviatoshynsky, Desniansky, Obolon and Podilsky districts and some contracting organizations and seized documents.

Kyivzelenbud, departments for maintaining plants of Obolon and Holosiyivsky districts were also raided.

The raids were conducted under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion or property by malversation).

Klitschko thanked the Interior Ministry and PGO for help.

The mayor said that the raids were completed, five persons were detained.

“This will be a preventive vaccination for those who want to profit from the budget of the city and commit unlawful acts. Everyone who violates the law must be punished,” he said.

First Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Dmytro Storozhuk said that large work was carried out to reveal city budget embezzlement scams in coordination with the National Police and under control of the PGO.

Deputy Head of the National Police Ihor Kupranets gave the details of the scam. He said that Hr 11-12 million of loss has been confirmed. Larger figures will be proved in the process of the investigation, he said.
