Lemtrans, the largest private rail operator in Ukraine, transported 13.76 million tonnes of cargo of various types in January-March 2017, while during the same period in 2016 it handled 14.6 million tonnes, head of the company Volodymyr Mezentsev told Interfax-Ukraine on the sidelines of the Ukrainian Infrastructure Forum in Kyiv.

The press service of the company said during this period the main products carried were coal and iron ore (5.56 million tonnes and 4.99 million tonnes respectively).

According to the press service, transportation of ferrous metals in January-March amounted to 1.63 million tonnes (1.64 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2016), fluxes 840,000 tonnes (1.07 million tonnes), and coke 580,000 tonnes (730,000 tonnes).

In 2016 the total volume of rail transportation by Lemtrans amounted to 60.226 million tonnes of cargo of different nomenclature, which is 5.6% less than in 2105.

Lemtrans is the largest private freight forwarding company in Ukraine, which provides a full range of services for cargo transportation by rail. Its core business is forwarding services for domestic and exported and imported freight, as well as rolling stock repairs.
